Euro Area Economic Sentiment Rebounds

Economic confidence in the Euro area has been on the rise for the third month in a row as of December, indicating a potential for a moderate recovery in the region.

On Monday, the European Commission released a sentiment indicator which showed an increase to 96.4. This marks the highest level since May and surpasses the forecasts of economists surveyed by Bloomberg. The figure for November was also adjusted upward to 94.

Our take: Sentiment slowly improves as also signaled by other indicators such as the German ZEW index. Is 2024 the year where European activity outperforms the consensus?
